On October 10th, Gennaro’s Cafe & Coffee Company joined Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens for their 2026 Pumpkin Spice Festival, serving freshly made pumpkin spice lattes to complement the fall atmosphere.
Known for staying true to its traditional coffee roots with rich espresso, cappuccinos, and classic coffee favourites, Gennaro’s stepped outside its usual menu to bring something seasonal to the event.
Obsidian Creations was there to capture the experience through photography and videography, highlighting the people, preparation, and atmosphere throughout the day.
Finding Our Creative Direction
Our original plan was to film a video featuring the staff and owner, Enzo Palumbo, introducing the event and serving customers. We typically like to capture our talking points and introductions before service begins, giving us more flexibility during the event.
However, our first attempt near the main entrance didn’t quite have the atmosphere we were looking for. Rather than force the concept, we decided to let the event develop and see where the day took us.
As more visitors arrived and service picked up, new creative opportunities started to come together.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte Walkthrough
With a new direction in mind, we decided to create a fast-paced pumpkin spice latte walkthrough featuring Carina Fraser.
Having appeared in Gennaro’s content many times before, Carina knows exactly how to bring energy and personality in front of the camera. The entire walkthrough came together in one take, using quick camera movements and an engaging sequence to showcase the preparation from start to finish.
It was a simple concept that delivered exactly what we needed and became the centrepiece of our video coverage.
Creative Event Photography
After wrapping up the video, we moved into our photography session, focusing on more unique angles and compositions than we typically capture for Gennaro’s.
We documented the catering setup, coffee preparation, staff, and key moments throughout the event. One highlight was capturing Enzo Palumbo meeting Joe Colasanti for the first time, a memorable moment between two businesses that have shared a connection for years.
Colasanti’s greenhouse also provided an incredible setting for photography. The surrounding greenery and soft natural light filtering through the greenhouse panels created beautiful, consistent lighting throughout the space.
We used these conditions to capture detailed product photography, creative preparation shots, and our signature photographic collages, giving Gennaro’s a fresh collection of content for its website and social media.
Another Great Event with Gennaro’s
The Pumpkin Spice Festival was another great opportunity to showcase what we enjoy most about event coverage: adapting creatively, capturing genuine moments, and finding new ways to tell a business’s story.
A big thank you to Gennaro’s Cafe & Coffee Company for trusting Obsidian Creations with the photography and videography coverage once again. We’re already looking forward to next year, especially with the new event catering carts on the horizon.
