Cars for a Cause: A Cinematic Fall Drive & Dinner Cruise

Automotive Photography, Videography & Creative Production | Windsor, Ontario

Capturing the Drive

On Sunday, October 25, Obsidian Creations joined Cars for a Cause for a great end-of-season cruise through Windsor-Essex. With around 12 high-end supercars, sports cars and specialty vehicles, the event was the perfect opportunity to create something cinematic while bringing together a passion for cars and creative storytelling.

With multiple locations, changing lighting conditions and limited time at each stop, this project challenged our team to work quickly, adapt on the fly and make the most of every opportunity.

Finding the Rhythm on the Road

We began at Landmark Cinemas on Walker Road in Windsor, using the time before departure to prepare our equipment, coordinate communications with drivers and plan our camera movements and vehicle formations.

Once we hit Highway 401, the real work began. Finding the right lighting, backgrounds and road compositions required constant adjustments as the scenery changed. Our lead camera operator, Mitch, focused on capturing the footage while the rest of the team helped manage the filming vehicle and coordinate the moving shots.

For this project, we stepped away from the traditional stabilized look. By shooting handheld and carefully adjusting our camera settings, we created a grittier, more natural cinematic style that matched the energy of the drive.

The tunnels, highway ramps and surrounding infrastructure gave us some of our favourite footage of the day, filling the frame with movement and creating a sense of speed that brought the entire experience to life.

The Gordie Howe Bridge: A Standout Location

One of the main highlights was our stop near the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, where we captured a group photograph featuring the cars against the surrounding highway infrastructure.

Composition was everything. By using the highway as a leading line and working with the available perspective, we created an image that brought the entire lineup together while keeping the vehicles and setting in focus.

Throughout the stop, we continued capturing both photography and video, making sure each opportunity contributed to the final collection of content.

A Hidden Lakeside Location

Our next stop took us down a quiet rural road toward a lakeside area, where the rocky parking incline provided a completely different setting for the vehicles.

This location quickly became one of our favourites from the shoot. The natural surroundings, open space and contrasting vehicle colours gave us the opportunity to experiment with more artistic compositions.

The two bright blue supercars (Lamborghini Hurrican Evo & C8 zo6 corvette) were a particular highlight, standing out against the environment and creating some striking imagery. We approached both the photography and videography with an emphasis on angles, framing and natural movement, making the most of a location that could easily have been overlooked.

It was a reminder that great automotive content doesn’t always require a dedicated location. Sometimes, the right creative decisions can turn an ordinary roadside stop into something special.

Creating Content Under Pressure

What made this project stand out was the pace. We were constantly moving between locations, adapting to new environments and balancing photography with cinematic video production.

Rather than treating each stop as a separate shoot, we approached the entire cruise as one connected visual story. Every location contributed something different, from the energy of the highway rollers to the structured group photography and more artistic lakeside shots.

By the time we finished our main shooting locations, we had captured the variety and quality of content we set out to create for Cars for a Cause, including assets for social media and future promotional use.

The Final Deliverables

Following the cruise, we brought everything together through a combination of photography, editing and custom sound design.

The completed content included:

  • Automotive photography collage: A curated collection showcasing the vehicles and highlights from the drive.
  • Cinematic recap reel: An artistic edit capturing the energy of the entire evening, featuring Love Somebody by Maroon 5, combined with our custom sound design.
  • Collaborative photo collage: A second curated collection published on the Cars for a Cause main page in collaboration with Obsidian Creations.

The goal was to create content that felt true to the experience rather than simply documenting the event. Through movement, composition, pacing and sound, we brought the drive together into a cohesive visual recap.

Wrapping Up the Evening

After the final photo and video stops, the group continued along the scenic route before arriving at The Grove in Kingsville for dinner and the end of the cruise.

It was a great way to close out the season, combining an incredible lineup of vehicles with a relaxed evening and plenty of opportunities to create something memorable.

We want to thank Cars for a Cause and everyone involved for making this project possible. It was a fun, fast-paced shoot that allowed us to lean into what we do best: adapting to the moment, finding creative opportunities and producing cinematic content with a distinct visual style.

At Obsidian Creations, we believe the best work comes from combining technical execution with a creative eye. This project was another opportunity to put that approach into practice.

Grand Touring Automobiles | Private Dealership Media Day & Cars for a Cause

At Obsidian Creations, every project is an opportunity to combine creative direction, professional media production, and purposeful marketing. Our recent collaboration with Grand Touring Automobiles brought us to Oakville, Ontario, for a private dealership media day focused on capturing seven exceptional vehicles and creating promotional content for the upcoming Cars for a Cause main car show.

The Project & Creative Direction

The goal was to create a collection of premium automotive photography and cinematic video while developing content to help promote Grand Touring Automobiles’ upcoming appearance at Cars for a Cause. Each set had its own visual direction, allowing us to capture the vehicles in ways that complemented their design and surroundings.

Aston Martin Vanquish | Emerald Paintwork

We began with an Aston Martin Vanquish finished in iridescent emerald paint. Using the dealership’s lighting, we focused on capturing the colour shifts, reflections, and sculpted body lines through detailed photography and video.

Rolls-Royce | Luxury Showroom Details

Inside the Rolls-Royce viewing area, darker orange wood finishes, matte black details, and chrome accents created a distinctive backdrop. We incorporated the showroom’s design into our compositions to highlight both the vehicles and the premium atmosphere of the dealership.

Bugatti Chiron & Chiron Pur Sport | Bentley Lounge

The Bentley lounge provided the setting for a dedicated showcase of the Bugatti Chiron and Chiron Pur Sport. We captured individual vehicle details and wider compositions, highlighting the design of both cars while making use of the surrounding space.

Lamborghini Temerario | Outdoor Shoot

We moved outdoors to photograph and film the Lamborghini Temerario, using natural light and exterior surroundings to create a more open, dynamic look. This set added variety to the project and complemented the controlled indoor dealership coverage.

Highway Rolling Shots | Cinematic Motion

Along Highway 403, we captured rolling footage to bring movement and energy into the final collection. These shots added a cinematic driving element that balanced the static photography and dealership video.

Post-Production | Photography & Video

After the shoot, we reviewed the footage, selected the strongest images, and refined the content through colour correction, editing, and cinematic finishing. Our focus was on maintaining a consistent, polished look while preserving each vehicle’s unique character.

Cars for a Cause | Event Marketing

The final objective was to support Grand Touring Automobiles’ upcoming Cars for a Cause appearance. Using the captured content, we developed the direction for a promotional teaser designed to showcase the seven-vehicle lineup and build anticipation for the event.

Bringing It All Together

From luxury showroom photography to outdoor automotive shoots and highway rolling footage, this project brought together every part of our creative process.

At Obsidian Creations, we create media that goes beyond the camera, helping brands present themselves professionally, connect with their audiences, and promote what matters.

Jay & Laura – Wedding Photography

A full day of wedding photography featuring cinematic nature portraits, multiple locations, and vintage film photography across Kingsville and Harrow, Ontario.

A Day of Planning, Photography & Creativity

Jay and Laura’s wedding gave us the opportunity to combine professional wedding coverage with our love for cinematic photography and natural landscapes.

The day began with a short ceremony at City Hall before we made our way to Kingsville Lakeside Park for the main portrait session. In the week leading up to the wedding, we planned our route through the park, considering lighting conditions, colour combinations, and the best locations to capture the style we had in mind.

Starting along the beachside walkway and working toward the natural gazebo, we took our time finding the right compositions and making the most of the surroundings. The soft shadows and vibrant greens worked perfectly with the cinematic look we were aiming for.

We spent the most time around the iconic stone bridge and nature-surrounded gazebo, exploring different angles and compositions to get the best out of each location. By the time we finished, we were confident we had captured some of the defining photographs of the day.

From Lakeside Park to the Vineyards

Our next stop was Paglione Estate Winery in Harrow, Ontario, where we continued documenting the day through dinner service and additional portraits.

Although dinner coverage wasn’t a main requirement, we took the opportunity to capture the atmosphere and details of the celebration. We also brought Jay and Laura out into the grapevine fields, creating another set of portraits that carried the same natural, cinematic style from our first location.

Moving between locations allowed us to build a more complete collection while keeping the quality and attention to detail consistent throughout the day.

A Different Look Through Film Photography

Alongside our digital coverage, Luke joined us to assist with secondary content and vintage film photography. Using a variety of cameras, including the Mamiya RB67 and other handheld options, he captured different film styles that added another layer to the final collection.

From the greenery of Lakeside Park to the vineyards in Harrow, the film photographs complemented our digital work and brought a more traditional, timeless feel to the project.

Together, we delivered 110 digital photographs and 65 film photographs, giving Jay and Laura a collection that captured their wedding through two distinct photographic approaches.

A Message From Jay

“Thank you guys so much for all the effort and attention to detail you put into our big day. You were amazing and made our day very special!”

Capturing the Moments That Matter

At Obsidian Creations, we believe the best work comes from taking the time to plan, understand each location, and make the most of every opportunity. Jay and Laura’s wedding was a great example of how thoughtful planning and a collaborative approach can turn a day into a collection of photographs worth looking back on for years to come.

We’re grateful to Jay and Laura for trusting us to capture their special day.
