Obsidian Creations × Cars for a Cause: From an Idea to an Official Partnership
Automotive Media. Community Impact. A Cause Worth Supporting.
Some partnerships start with a plan, while others come together through the right people, the right opportunity, and a shared passion for something bigger. Our partnership with Cars for a Cause started as an idea that had been sitting in the background for some time before turning into one of the most exciting opportunities in our automotive journey.
Where It All Started
Late in our automotive journey at Obsidian Creations, we were presented with an opportunity that had always been on the table. One of our now team members was already involved with Cars for a Cause and had brought up the idea of having our team take on the photography, videography, and digital media production for their events.
It was something we had always liked the idea of, but we weren’t entirely sure how it would come together or what it would eventually turn into.
That changed in the spring of 2026.
Around March and April, we started developing an idea that would help introduce a new level of creative direction to Cars for a Cause’s upcoming season. We had been thinking about bringing a character or mascot to life through our content, and the upcoming season opener at Tecumseh Mall gave us the perfect opportunity to make it happen.
Bringing the Cars for a Cause Mascot to Life
The goal was to create a cinematic commercial that would represent the season opener while giving Cars for a Cause something recognizable to build on for future campaigns.
We developed a concept around the Cars for a Cause mascot preparing to make his way to the car show. The production began with a cinematic forest scene, following the character at his computer, changing songs and getting into the music before transitioning into the excitement of the event.
From there, the story moved to Tecumseh Mall, where the cars arrived and the venue filled with incredible vehicles and automotive enthusiasts.
Alongside the commercial, we produced automotive photography and covered the event from start to finish. It was an opportunity to bring together storytelling, cinematic production, and event coverage in a way that represented the scale and energy of the Cars for a Cause community.
The response and experience from that first event helped establish the foundation for what would become an official working partnership.
Becoming Part of the Cars for a Cause Team
Following the season opener, we were officially locked in with Cars for a Cause.
What began as an idea had turned into an ongoing collaboration, with Obsidian Creations taking on a larger role in the content, photography, videography, and digital marketing supporting the organization’s events.
We were working alongside a team of passionate people who shared a common goal: bringing the community together, creating memorable automotive events, and supporting causes that make a difference.
Some of the key people we’ve had the opportunity to work alongside include:
- Paul Sulja — @soldwithsulja
- Lauren Harbin — @laurharbin
- Sam Bolton — @_sambolton
- RJ Oth — @roadsterlife
Alongside many more team members, volunteers, automotive enthusiasts, and community members who contribute their time and energy to making these events possible.
It’s the people behind the scenes who help bring these events to life, and being able to contribute our creative work to that effort is something we genuinely value.
Preparing for the One Day Dreams × Cars for a Cause Main Event
After the season opener, our attention shifted toward one of the biggest automotive projects of the year: the One Day Dreams × Cars for a Cause main event at the LaSalle Landing Centre.
For this event, Obsidian Creations took on digital marketing and social media content production to help build awareness, promote attendance, and support the overall success of the show.
The work extended well beyond event day. We wanted to help build momentum throughout the months leading up to the event, reaching automotive enthusiasts, connecting with potential partners, and giving people a reason to mark their calendars.
Grand Touring Autos — Toronto, Ontario
One of the first major steps in the campaign was a trip to Toronto, Ontario, where we had the opportunity to produce photography and videography for Grand Touring Autos, a luxury and high-performance vehicle dealership.
The goal was to capture vehicles that would help promote their involvement and presence at the upcoming main event.
We worked with an incredible lineup of luxury and performance vehicles, including a Bugatti Chiron that quickly became one of the standout attractions.
This production helped build excitement around the vehicles expected at the show while giving the event’s promotional campaign high-quality automotive imagery to work with.
Building Awareness Across the Automotive Community
As the summer continued, we kept the momentum going by attending local cars and coffees and larger automotive events throughout the area.
These outings gave us opportunities to connect with enthusiasts, share information about the upcoming show, and help spread the word within the community that would ultimately make the event what it was.
For us, promoting an event like this isn’t just about publishing a few posts. It’s about building anticipation, reaching the right audience, and making sure people understand what the event represents and why they should be part of it.
The Main Event Commercial: A Campaign That Delivered
As the main event approached, we developed a promotional commercial designed to communicate the important details in a way that was informative, entertaining, and visually engaging.
We chose a talking-head, short-form video format that allowed us to share the event information, dates, and details while keeping the content fun and easy to watch.
We’ve produced this style of video for a number of projects over the years, but every production brings a new opportunity to improve. The coordination, performances, creative direction, and filming that came together that day produced a result that exceeded even our own expectations.
Once released across social media, the commercial generated approximately 70,000–90,000 views across platforms, alongside hundreds of likes and comments and, most notably, approximately 750 shares.
The campaign also had paid advertising behind it, helping push the video toward the appropriate audience and extend awareness of the event.
We believe paid advertising works best when it has strong creative behind it. A budget can help a campaign reach more people, but the content still needs to capture their attention and give them a reason to engage.
The response to this commercial demonstrated the value of combining creative production with a clear marketing strategy. The number of shares was particularly encouraging because it showed people were willing to pass the event information along to others.
For a community-driven event, that kind of engagement can make a real difference.
Expanding Beyond Events: Merchandise and Website Development
Our work with Cars for a Cause has continued beyond the main event itself.
We’ve since been booked to develop the organization’s merchandise line, covering everything from clothing and hats to accessories. Our team has worked on bringing the products together and preparing the merchandise for its online storefront.
We’ve also been booked to work on the Cars for a Cause website, helping establish a dedicated online destination for event information, updates, merchandise, and future development.
The goal is to create something that continues working for the organization between events: a place where people can learn more about the cause, stay informed about upcoming shows, support the brand through merchandise, and help contribute to future fundraising efforts.
For us, this is an important next step in the partnership. We’re not only helping produce content for individual events; we’re helping build the digital foundation that can support Cars for a Cause as it continues to grow.
A Partnership We’re Proud to Be Part Of
Our work with Cars for a Cause represents more than another automotive project on our portfolio. It brings together the things we enjoy most about what we do: automotive photography, cinematic videography, creative campaigns, digital marketing, and working alongside people who are passionate about their community.
From the first mascot commercial at Tecumseh Mall to the One Day Dreams main event, the promotional campaigns, and the upcoming merchandise and website projects, it’s been exciting to see how far this partnership has come in such a short time.
We’re continuing to work alongside the Cars for a Cause team on content and marketing for upcoming events and campaigns, providing the creative support needed as new opportunities develop.
Thank You to Everyone Behind the Cause
A special thank you to Paul Sulja for the opportunity to become involved and contribute our work to a cause that means a great deal to the community.

We’re proud to support what this team is building, and we’re excited to continue bringing new ideas, quality production, and meaningful marketing to the projects ahead.
